Step by step how to cook Ppopgi (Old fashioned korean candy):
- Place a baking sheet with sugar sprinkled in the centre..
- Add the sugar to the pan and hold it over a medium sized flame..
- Keep stirring the sugar so it doesn't burn. Let it melt completely..
- Add a pinch of baking soda and keep stirring. It will change colour to a beautiful caramel and will rise..
- Pour this mixture on to the prepped baking sheet. The sugar sprinkled on the sheet prevents the candy from sticking to the paper..
- Place the lollipop stick and flatten the mixture with a weight. I used an oiled plate. You just press gently and leave it on for 3 seconds..
- Now take a cookie cutter, any shape you like, and gently press two thirds in to get the shape. Careful not to press through completely..
- Wait to cool..
- You eat around the outline shape and if you can get that shape intact without cracking, you can treat yourself to another one..
- Lalallalala~.
