Ingredients for Potatoes in Chettinand Masala:

  1. 5 boiled potatoes.
  2. 2 onions chopped.
  3. leaves Few curry.
  4. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
  5. 1/4 tsp hing.
  6. to taste Salt.
  7. 3 tbsp oil.
  8. For chettinand masala:.
  9. 1 tbsp jeera.
  10. 1 tbsp coriander seeds.
  11. 1 tbsp urad dal.
  12. 3-4 whole red chillies.
  13. 1/2 tsp black peppercorns.
  14. 1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder.

Step by step how to cook Potatoes in Chettinand Masala:

  1. In a pan take all the ingredients except Kashmiri chilli powder for the masala and dry roast on low flame for 5-7 mins.Let it cool and grind it to a coarse powder.Add Kashmiri chilli powder and mix well..
  2. In a kadai take oil and add mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves and as it spluttter add chopped onion and saute for 5 mins..
  3. Chop the potatoes and add to the onions.Add at to taste and the chettinand masala around 2-3 tbsp and give it a mix and cook on low flame for 5 mins..
  4. Instant chatpata potatoes are ready.. Serve with dal rice, chapati or u can also serve as starter.. For starter use baby potatoes..
