Ingredients for Chicken Shawarma:

  1. Marination of Chicken.
  2. 300 gm Boneless Chicken.
  3. 1 tbsp salt (to taste).
  4. 1 tbsp red chilli powder.
  5. 1 tsp haldi.
  6. 1 tsp dhania powder.
  7. 1 tsp oregano.
  8. 2 tbsp soya sauce.
  9. 1 tbsp vinegar.
  10. 1 tbsp chilli sauce.
  11. 1/2 cup yoghurt.
  12. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  13. 1 tbsp oil for frying.
  14. Red sauce.
  15. 1 medium onion.
  16. 1/2 cup cream.
  17. 2 tbsp red chilli powder.
  18. 1 tbsp soya sauce.
  19. 1 tbsp vinegar.
  20. 1 tbsp chilli sauce.
  21. 1/2 tsp thyme.
  22. White sauce.
  23. 4 tbsp yoghurt.
  24. 1/2 mayonnaise.
  25. 1 tbsp white sesame seeds.
  26. 1 tsp salt.
  27. 1 tsp black pepper.
  28. 2 tbsp olive oil.
  29. Filling.
  30. 1 cup cabbage shredded.
  31. 2 cucumbers julienne.
  32. 2 capsicums julienne.
  33. 2 tomatoes julienne.
  34. 1 tsp lemon juice.
  35. 6 shawarma/pita breads.

Step by step how to cook Chicken Shawarma:

  1. For marination. Wash and cut chicken into thin slices/cubes. In a bowl, add all the marination ingredients. Mix well. Leave aside for 1 hr..
  2. For red sauce. Blend all red sauce ingredients to form a smooth, thick paste. Set aside..
  3. For white sauce. Dry roast the sesame seeds till brown. Add to blender along with all other white sauce ingredients. Blend to form a smooth thick paste. Set aside..
  4. Wash and cut veggies for filling. Mix them in a large bowl and add lemon juice. Mix well and set aside..
  5. After 1 hr, fry the marinated chicken with 1 tbsp oil. Make sure there is no gravy left, and the chicken is fully dry..
